Hollywood royalty is officially blending, and it’s bringing two iconic comedy families even closer together. Legendary comedians Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence recently reunited, but not for a movie set; they were celebrating the upcoming arrival of their shared grandchild.
Jasmin Lawrence, daughter of Martin Lawrence, and Eric Murphy, son of Eddie Murphy, celebrated their baby shower this past weekend, revealing the name of their baby girl to family and friends. Jasmin posted on her Instagram a carousel of images from the event with a caption announcing that their little one will be named Ari Skye Murphy.
The celebration comes after the couple, who have been dating since 2021, shared their pregnancy news in February 2026 via a beautiful black-and-white maternity shoot on Instagram. In the announcement, Eric rested his head on Jasmin’s stomach, with the caption reading, “Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift.”
Both comedy legends are thrilled about the new addition. While Eddie is already a seasoned grandfather, Ari Skye will be his fourth grandchild; this will be Martin’s very first time stepping into the role.
Following the initial pregnancy announcement, Martin took to social media to share his excitement. “What a blessing to start the day! My heart is overflowing with love and gratitude after the announcement of my first grandchild!” he wrote. “Watching @jasmin_lawrence and @ericmurphy777 begin this journey into parenthood means everything to me.”
The couple has been steadily building their life together away from the typical Hollywood spotlight. After getting engaged in November 2024, they quietly tied the knot in May 2025 during an intimate church ceremony with just the two of them and a preacher.
Eddie later confirmed the private nuptials on The Jennifer Hudson Show, joking that the low-key ceremony probably made Martin happy since he didn’t have to foot the bill for a lavish wedding.
