The world’s most exclusive financial club is expanding, and the culture is bringing some major heavy hitters to the table. According to the newly released 2026 Forbes World’s Billionaires list, there are now 27 Black billionaires globally, a notable jump from the 23 individuals recorded last year.
Together, this elite group holds a staggering combined net worth of $121 billion, up from $96 billion just a year ago. Driven primarily by massive gains in the finance, technology, and entertainment sectors, the list features a mix of steady industrial titans and a few highly anticipated newcomers from the world of music.
Here is a look at the biggest takeaways from this year’s historic wealth rankings.
For years, fans have watched hip-hop and pop music’s biggest icons build massive business empires, and in 2026, two of the industry’s most influential figures officially crossed the billion-dollar threshold.
More than a decade after shaking up the tech world by selling Beats by Dre to Apple in a massive $3 billion deal, Dr. Dre has officially joined the billionaires list with an estimated net worth of $1 billion. The legendary producer and entrepreneur isn’t slowing down, either.
He recently launched a premium spirits company, Gin & Juice, alongside longtime collaborator Snoop Dogg. As Dre put it in a recent interview, “I’m always thinking forward. I don’t live my life with a rearview mirror.”
Joining him in the newcomer ranks is none other than Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. After three decades of dominating the global music industry, the 35-time Grammy winner has parlayed her historic tours and savvy business ventures, including her haircare line, Cécred, and her new Texas whiskey brand, SirDavis, into an estimated $1 billion fortune.
She joins her husband, Jay-Z (worth $2.8 billion), further cementing their status as one of the wealthiest and most powerful power couples in the world.
Other notable entertainment and sports figures holding their spots on the list include Michael Jordan ($4.3 billion), Oprah Winfrey ($3.2 billion), Tyler Perry ($1.4 billion), Rihanna ($1 billion), LeBron James ($1.4 billion), and Tiger Woods ($1.5 billion).
While entertainment often grabs the headlines, the absolute peak of the billionaire list is dominated by international industry and enterprise tech.
Aliko Dangote ($28.5 Billion): The Nigerian founder and CEO of the Dangote Group remains the richest Black person on the planet. His wealth, largely derived from cement and sugar, surged by nearly $5 billion over the last year. Dangote recently completed a massive $23 billion oil refinery project—a monumental risk he previously admitted would have “dead” him financially if it failed.
Alexander Karp ($13.4 Billion): The co-founder and CEO of data mining giant Palantir Technologies ranks as the richest Black American. His net worth quadrupled recently thanks to a massive 62% surge in Palantir’s stock price.
David Steward ($12.4 Billion): The IT pioneer and co-founder of World Wide Technology rounds out the top three. His company currently brings in roughly $20 billion in annual revenue while providing infrastructure solutions for major global brands like Verizon and Citi.
Beyond the superstars and industrial tycoons, the private equity sector brought some fresh faces to the 2026 list. David Grain ($2.3 billion), founder of the telecommunications-focused Grain Management, and Stefan Kaluzny ($1.3 billion), founder of Sycamore Partners—which owns massive retail brands like Staples and Torrid—both made their billionaire debuts this year.
Additionally, media pioneer Robert Johnson is officially back in the three-comma club. The BET co-founder, who originally became the very first Black American billionaire back in 2001 before falling off the list during the Great Recession, has returned with an estimated net worth of $1 billion.
As the global economy shifts and new industries emerge, the steady growth from 23 to 27 Black billionaires in just one year highlights a powerful trajectory of wealth building, scaling, and cultural influence at the highest levels of business.
