The political landscape in Texas is heating up, and one of Hip-Hop’s most legendary voices is officially stepping into the arena. Wu-Tang Clan icon and actor Method Man recently released a video PSA urging Texans to head to the polls and vote for Jasmine Crockett in her historic bid for the U.S. Senate.
Keeping his message direct and impactful, Method Man made it clear exactly who he is backing.
“What’s good. It’s Method Man right here. We’ll keep this message short and brief. Texas, it’s time to vote,” the rapper says in the clip. “I need you to go out there and vote for my homie, my people. Someone I trust. Jasmine Crockett as your next U.S. Senator.”
He stamped the endorsement by highlighting her fierce reputation, calling her “the leader we know and a fighter we can trust,” before ending with a call to action: “So make sure you get out there. Let your voice be heard. Salute.”
For those following Crockett’s political trajectory, Method Man’s description of her as a “fighter” couldn’t be more accurate. Long before she was a viral force in Washington, D.C., Crockett was a public defender and civil rights attorney in Texas, building her career on the front lines fighting for the most vulnerable and marginalized communities.
She first made waves in the Texas State House before successfully running to succeed the late, trailblazing Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, representing Texas’s 30th Congressional District.
During her time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Crockett has become a formidable national figure. She is widely known for her razor-sharp legal mind, her unapologetic, viral takedowns during committee hearings, and her steadfast advocacy for voting rights, reproductive freedom, and criminal justice reform. She doesn’t just play the political game, she challenges the status quo directly.
Now, Crockett is aiming to take that same unapologetic spirit to the upper chamber as she runs for the U.S. Senate. Turning Texas blue, or even just making a Senate race highly competitive, is notoriously a steep, uphill battle. However, Crockett has never been one to shy away from a challenge.
