Black Vision TV: Harvest Studios Sets Stage for New 24/7 Linear Channel Dedicated to Black Culture

The media landscape is about to get a major injection of authentic Black programming. Harvest Studios has announced the development of Black Vision TV (BVTV), a new ecosystem designed to deliver 24/7 content ranging from sitcoms and talk shows to entertainment news, all curated specifically for Black audiences.

In an era where streaming algorithms often dictate what we see, Black Vision TV is taking a hybrid approach. The platform will launch as both a linear channel, offering that classic “always-on” TV experience, and a streaming app. This dual strategy aims to capture viewers who miss the communal feeling of traditional television while serving the on-demand needs of modern audiences.

The mission behind Black Vision TV is to create a dedicated space for Black culture that runs around the clock. Unlike mainstream networks that may offer blocks of diverse programming, BVTV promises a 24-hour cycle of culturally relevant content.

The programming slate is expected to be robust, featuring original sitcoms that reflect the nuances of Black life through scripted comedy. Additionally, the network will host talk shows serving as platforms for driving conversations on politics, lifestyle, and relationships, alongside daily news and entertainment coverage of stories that matter most to the community, told from a Black perspective.

The new venture will be backed by Harvest Studios, a production company founded by longtime showrunner Bentley Kyle Evans and entertainment executive Trenten Gumbs. By controlling both the content creation (the studio) and the distribution method (the linear channel/platform), Harvest Studios is positioning itself to have greater autonomy over the narratives being told.

This vertical integration allows for more creative freedom and ensures that Black storytellers have a direct pipeline to their audience without the typical hurdles of third-party networks.

While the world has pivoted to “binge-watching,” the demand for linear television, channels with scheduled programming, remains surprisingly strong. It provides a shared viewing experience and effortless discovery of new shows.

By offering a linear feed, Black Vision TV is tapping into the “lean-back” experience, allowing viewers to tune in at any time of day and see themselves represented on screen.

With a focus on ownership and authentic representation, Black Vision TV is poised to become a new hub for Black entertainment.
