Will Smith is trading red carpets for remote wilderness in his latest project, Pole to Pole with Will Smith, a breathtaking new National Geographic docuseries premiering on January 13. The seven‑part adventure follows the Academy Award‑nominated actor on a once‑in‑a‑lifetime journey from the South Pole to the North Pole, and everywhere in between, inviting audiences to see the planet through his eyes.
Set to premiere on January 13 on National Geographic and stream globally on Disney+ and Hulu the next day, the series spans 100 days and covers all seven continents.
Smith throws himself into a series of extreme challenges, from skiing across Antarctica’s frozen icefields and diving under Arctic ice to trekking the jungles of the Amazon and climbing heights in the Himalayas, alongside scientists, explorers, and local experts.

Inspired by the late mentor who encouraged him to explore life’s big questions, Smith pushes his mental and physical limits in environments that remind viewers just how vast and varied the Earth truly is.
Whether he’s catching a giant anaconda, milking a venomous tarantula, or traversing windswept deserts, every step of the journey blends adventure with deeper understanding.
The docuseries sits at the intersection of discovery, science, and personal introspection. Along the way, Smith doesn’t just explore extreme places; he engages with people whose knowledge, culture, and resilience offer insight into the future of our planet.
“Pole to Pole with Will Smith invites audiences to see our planet through Will’s eyes — with all the wonder, humor, and humanity he brings to every experience,” said Tom McDonald, National Geographic’s executive vice president of content, in press materials.
