Global music icons Usher and Big Sean have each committed $1 million to support the next generation of Detroit creatives. The funding will help launch the Detroit Entertainment Innovation Incubator, a cutting-edge facility designed to empower young people with the tools, resources, and mentorship needed to pursue careers in entertainment, technology, and media.

The incubator will be housed within the Michigan Central Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan, a new community hub located inside the historic Michigan Central Station and set to open in February.

Both artists are proud alumni of the Boys & Girls Club, and their joint investment marks a continuation of their long-standing commitment to youth empowerment in Detroit.

The Detroit Entertainment Innovation Incubator is designed to be more than just a creative space; it will be a launchpad for future leaders in film, music, digital production, special effects, artificial intelligence, and more.

Housed inside a 13,000-square-foot facility, the space will serve young people ages 14 to 24, giving them access to cutting-edge technology and resources to help turn their creativity into opportunity. The incubator will feature a virtual production studio for hands-on learning in film and media, a special effects lab to explore immersive digital environments, and a dedicated creators’ lounge built for collaboration, networking, and ideation.

Participants will also be able to sharpen their skills through advanced tools and workshops that mix artistic expression with technical training in areas such as AI and 3D design.

Beyond the equipment, the incubator’s impact will be strengthened through powerful partnerships with leading organizations, including Ilitch Sports + Entertainment and Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.

These collaborations will help provide students with industry-recognized credentials, mentorship from experienced professionals, and meaningful pathways into creative and technology-driven careers.
