Miles Caton is officially having a moment. The rising star took home Best Young Actor at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards for his breakout performance in Sinners, further cementing the film’s emotional impact and his place as one of Hollywood’s most promising new talents.
The award recognizes a performance that was not only technically strong but deeply human, and Caton’s portrayal clearly resonated with critics, audiences, and industry peers alike.
When Caton took the stage, he delivered the kind of speech that immediately reminds you why you root for young artists like him.

He opened with humility, grounding his success in gratitude and faith.
“First off, I want to give honor to God. None of this would be possible without my unwavering faith and belief in the plan that he has for my life.”
From there, Caton acknowledged the creative team that took a chance on him, including Warner Bros., Proximity Media, and Ryan Coogler, crediting them for believing in him even when his audition wasn’t exactly… cinematic.
“Ryan Coogler, Bro. Ryan, thank you for seeing whatever it is you could see in that poorly lit audition video that I sent you guys… Thank you both for believing in me.”
He also uplifted the Sinners cast, calling them his “second family” and thanking them for pushing him forward each day on set. Special recognition went to acting and dialect coach Beth McGuire, as well as Randy Bolin, who helped Caton learn blues guitar in just two months for the role.
Caton highlighted the film’s music collaborators Ludwig and Serena Göransson, calling the experience of working with them “a master class.” He thanked his team, shouted out his “big sis” H.E.R., and then closed the most emotional chapter of his speech, acknowledging his real family, especially his mom.
“My mom, who’s here tonight, she was my scene partner for my audition… Thank you for your prayers and your many sacrifices. I dedicate this award to you.”
His journey is just beginning, and if Sinners showcased what he can do now, the industry should prepare for everything still ahead.
Miles Caton isn’t just “one to watch.” He’s here. And he’s only getting started.
