NFL legend Michael Vick is stepping into a whole new arena, this time, not as a quarterback, but as a first-time head coach and BET will be there to capture the journey. The Coach Vick Experience, a docuseries chronicling Vick’s return home to Virginia to lead the Norfolk State University football program, will premiere Wednesday, February 4, at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT on BET.
Produced by SMAC Entertainment and executive produced by Vick alongside NFL icons Michael Strahan and Deion Sanders, the series pulls back the curtain on one of the most significant transitions of Vick’s life: shifting from gridiron star to mentor, leader, and architect of culture at an HBCU.
“This chapter is about giving back to the game that gave me everything,” Vick said in announcing the series. “Coaching at Norfolk State isn’t just about wins and losses. It’s about restoring pride and proving that transformation is possible when opportunity meets belief.”
The docuseries begins with Vick’s arrival in his home state as he takes on the head coaching job at Norfolk State, a program that has struggled to find consistent success at the Division I level. Instead of entering as a savior, Vick acknowledges his own learning curve, embracing the challenges of leadership, accountability, and trust-building in real time.
Viewers will see Vick navigating early practices, strategic decisions, and the emotional stakes tied to his family’s life and community expectations. The series goes beyond game footage to explore the emotional and cultural pressures of rebuilding a team and renewing belief within a football community hungry for momentum.
The project also shows Vick’s personal life. With candid glimpses into his relationships, especially with his wife, Kijafa Vick, and the support system around him, the series offers a more intimate look at the man behind the legend.
