Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost says he was the victim of a hate-driven assault while attending an event during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. The incident occurred Friday night at High West Saloon during a private Sundance celebration hosted by Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
According to sources at the party, as reported by Variety, a man allegedly crashed the invite-only gathering and became involved in a racially charged confrontation inside the restroom.
Witnesses said the individual, described as a white man, began making disturbing comments about being “proud to be white.” After Frost exited the facilities, the man allegedly punched him in the face. Security quickly detained the suspect, and Park City police later took him into custody.
Last night, I was assaulted by a man at Sundance Festival who told me that Trump was going to deport me before he punched me in the face. He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off. The individual was arrested and I am okay.

In a statement, the Park City Police Department identified the man as Christian Young. Officers determined that Young had “unlawfully entered a private party” after being turned away for not having an invitation. “Once inside the saloon, Young assaulted Florida Congressman Maxwell Frost and a female who was attending the private event,” the department said.
Young was booked into the Summit County Jail and now faces charges of aggravated burglary and two counts of simple assault.
Frost, a Florida Democrat and the first Gen Z member of Congress, addressed the incident publicly on Saturday, confirming that racist and political threats accompanied the assault.
“Last night, I was assaulted by a man at Sundance Festival who told me that Trump was going to deport me before he punched me in the face,” Frost wrote on X. “He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off. The individual was arrested and I am okay.”
He also expressed gratitude toward venue security and law enforcement for responding quickly.
