Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin is opening up about something deeper than acting, fame, or Hollywood momentum; he’s talking about faith, grounding, and finding spiritual alignment in a season of life that demanded stillness.

During a recent episode of the Podcrushed podcast, McLaughlin shared that although faith has always been part of who he is, this past summer became a turning point. He didn’t experience some dramatic “come to God” moment. Instead, it was an intentional return to centering himself, praying more, slowing down, and building a more personal relationship with God.

“My dad is a reverend,” McLaughlin shared. “But he never forced religion or church or God on me. He’d ask if we wanted to go, but if we didn’t, he wouldn’t push it. I kind of found my own relationship with God.”

That foundation was always there. But as he described, life happens, success happens, schedules get packed, distractions creep in. And even with a strong sense of spirituality, it’s easy to drift.

“You live your life and you kind of get into the world a little bit,” he said. “Then you kind of stop praying sometimes… you’re like, ‘Alright, I’m praying before I go to sleep.’ And then you move on. But then you have those moments like, ‘Wait, I need to pray and talk to God. Sit down, ground yourself.’”

This summer became that reset.

McLaughlin said he deleted Instagram, stepped away from the noise, and spent more intentional time with family. He went to church more. He slowed down. He breathed. He listened.

“It was really replenishing,” he shared, reflecting on the peace that came with pulling back and re-centering.

For fans who have watched McLaughlin grow up on screen, his honesty feels especially refreshing. He spoke like a young man learning balance, seeking grounding, and choosing peace in a world that rarely allows it.

And maybe that’s the most relatable part.

Even with fame, success, and opportunity, he still needed time to sit still… to disconnect… to reset spiritually… and simply talk to God again.
