British rapper and actor Ghetts will not appear in the second season of Netflix’s hit sci‑fi drama Supacell, following news that he has admitted to causing the death of a 20‑year‑old man in a hit‑and‑run car crash.
While Netflix had not officially announced his involvement in Season 2, sources told Deadline that Ghetts, who appeared in the series’ first season, will “play no further role” in the upcoming episodes. Production on Season 2 is currently underway in the UK.
The 41‑year‑old artist, whose real name is Justin Clarke, pleaded guilty this week to causing death by dangerous driving during a hearing at the Old Bailey. Ghetts appeared via video link from Pentonville prison, where he is currently being held.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred on October 18 in East London. Ghetts was reportedly driving more than twice the 30 mph speed limit when his BMW struck pedestrian Yubin Tamang, 20, as he was crossing the road. Authorities say Ghetts did not stop following the crash. He was located and arrested four hours later at his home.
Tamang was transported to a nearby hospital but died from his injuries two days later.
Ghetts is scheduled to be sentenced on February 12.
As the legal process continues, Netflix and the production team have not issued an official public statement.
This is a developing story.
