Grammy Award–winning global artist Burna Boy is stepping in to support grieving families in Stockton, California, after the devastating mass shooting that claimed four lives and injured thirteen others. According to the city’s vice mayor, the singer has offered to pay for all funeral expenses for the victims.

The tragedy unfolded on November 29 inside a banquet hall during what was meant to be a joyous celebration—a two-year-old’s birthday party. Instead, it became one of Stockton’s deadliest mass shootings, leaving families shattered and a community searching for answers.

In a statement shared with city officials, Burna Boy expressed heartbreak over the loss of young lives.

“When I heard about the children murdered in Stockton, my heart broke,” he said. “I wanted to do whatever I could to support these parents as they begin the long process of healing.”

Vice Mayor Jason Lee, who has been vocal about addressing gun violence and protecting youth in Stockton, publicly acknowledged Burna Boy’s gesture while renewing calls for systemic change.

The victims’ identities have not yet been released by officials, but families have already begun sharing their stories, including that of 14-year-old Amari Peterson, whose father described trying to save his son’s life amid the chaos, reported by The Quintessential Gentleman.

As Stockton continues to mourn, city officials say they hope the attention brought by global support will accelerate efforts to combat violence and protect families.
