It’s official, Netflix’s breakout sci-fi drama Supacell is coming back, and cameras are now rolling for Season 2.

Creator and director Rapman (known for Blue Story and Shiro’s Story) took to Instagram to share the exciting news, posting a photo of the Season 2 script with the caption:

“Sorry to anybody who’s been waiting. Supacell season 2 is currently ???? I PROMISE it will be worth the wait ????????????????”

Premiering in 2024, Supacell quickly became one of Netflix’s most talked-about British series, praised for its storytelling and fresh take on the superhero genre.

Set in South London, the show follows a group of ordinary Black people who unexpectedly develop superpowers, but instead of fighting villains in capes, they’re navigating real-world issues like family, love, survival, and systemic inequality.

Season 1 ended with major cliffhangers and unanswered questions, leaving fans desperate to know what’s next for Michael Lasaki (Tosin Cole) and the rest of the ensemble cast, including Nadine Mills, Calvin Demba, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, and Josh Tedeku.

While details on Season 2’s plot remain under wraps, Rapman’s track record suggests more emotional depth, action-packed storytelling, and cultural authenticity.

The first season of Supacell became a global hit for Netflix, charting in the streamer’s Top 10 across multiple countries and drawing acclaim for its representation of South London’s Black community through a superhero lens.

With filming now underway, it looks like the wait won’t be much longer before we’re transported back into Supacell’s electrifying world of power, purpose, and destiny.

Fans can rest easy; if Rapman’s promise is any indication, Season 2 is shaping up to be well worth it.
