There’s something magnetic about House Guest, the YouTube series hosted and created by Scott Evans, known for his work on Access Hollywood.

Maybe it’s the laughter that echoes through his backyard. Maybe it’s the way each conversation feels less like an interview and more like a moment among friends. Whatever the magic is, we can’t get enough, and neither can Evans.

During a chat at this year’s CultureCon, Evans reflected on the growing success of his independently produced digital series, which brings celebrities and cultural figures into his home for food, drinks, games, and refreshingly honest conversations.

Guests have included the likes of Kamala Harris, KevOnStage, Taye Diggs, and Regina King, to name just a few.

“I don’t even know how to really process it, to be totally honest,” Evans admitted when asked about the outpouring of love for the show. “It’s happening in real time. And to be in a place like CultureCon, where you get to be face to face, arm in arm, big hugs, I’ve not had so many good hugs like this in a long time.”

That community energy, he explained, is exactly why House Guest exists. “The culture is why we created this show,” Evans said. “I wanted to have a place where we felt loved on, where we felt appreciated, where we felt seen, where we felt safe. If the show continues to grow…that will always be paramount.”

Evans revealed that House Guest is powered by a small but mighty team; just two people handle production, but the impact is much larger than the scale.

“What I learned is that there is more in me than I knew,” he said. “There is more drive. There is more dream. There is more tenacity and resilience. It’s an opportunity to develop it, but also to experience and demonstrate success in it, and to invite other people to find it in themselves.”

When asked which legend he wishes could’ve been a guest on the show, Evans didn’t hesitate. “Whitney,” he said. “Could you imagine Nippy in the backyard with Earl cutting up? Like, what would we eat? What would we drink? What would we talk about? Oh my God, the game! The game!” He laughed at the thought, adding, “That would be everything!”

From the way Evans speaks about the show, it’s clear that House Guest is more than content; it’s a community. It’s celebration. It’s a reflection of what happens when culture, creativity, and conversation collide in one backyard.

And for Evans, that’s exactly the point. “To be in community and in proximity with people who care about the show so much—it’s everything,” he said.
