Millennials are stepping up. At 37 years old, Christian Menefee is ready to bring his record of fighting for Texans from Houston to Washington.
Raised in Texas’ 18th Congressional District by two military parents, Menefee grew up with lessons of service, hard work, and standing up for what’s right.
He attended Houston public schools and became the first in his family to graduate from college, earning his degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio before moving on to law school at Washington University in St. Louis.
This campaign is about family, community, and the fights that matter. I’ve taken on Trump, Abbott, and Paxton – and won.

Now I’m running for Congress to keep fighting for TX-18: for health care, voting rights, and abortion rights.

The seat Menefee is seeking was left vacant following the death of Representative Sylvester Turner in March 2025. Turner had succeeded the late Sheila Jackson Lee, who passed in 2024. A special election is scheduled for November 4, 2025.
A Record of Advocacy
After law school, Menefee returned to Houston and built a career as a commercial litigator. But outside the office, his passion was public service.
He volunteered at the hospital where his older brother beat cancer, led civic organizations that supported working families, and took on pro bono legal work. He worked with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, advised immigrant families during Trump’s Muslim Ban, and consistently fought government overreach.
A proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Menefee brought that commitment to his role as Harris County Attorney. I
In 2020, he unseated a three-term incumbent to become the youngest—and first Black—person to hold the office. When Texas Republicans tried to restrict voting rights and throw out election results, he fought in court and won.
When corporations polluted Black and Brown neighborhoods, he forced them to clean up. And when businesses price-gouged families during hurricanes, he held them accountable.
Menefee challenged Trump’s administration on attempts to cut funding for life-saving medical research and deny birthright citizenship to immigrant families. “While others talked about pushing back, Christian built a record of real results,” his campaign says.
Taking the Fight to Washington
Now, Menefee is running for Congress on a platform of protecting health care, voting rights, and reproductive freedom.
His campaign launch included a digital-first ad styled like an MTV Cribs parody, introducing him as both a millennial dad and a proven political fighter.
“Every candidate says they’ll take on Trump, but I actually sued Trump to protect local healthcare programs and once sued Ken Paxton to protect voting rights. Beat him too,” Menefee says in the ad. “You come for our communities’ voting rights, abortion rights, healthcare, you’re gonna get that smoke.”
On Instagram, he summed up his campaign this way:
“This campaign is about family, community, and the fights that matter. I’ve taken on Trump, Abbott, and Paxton – and won. Now I’m running for Congress to keep fighting for TX-18: for health care, voting rights, and abortion rights.”
The Personal Side
Menefee lives in Houston with his wife, Kaitlyn, their two young sons, Gabriel and Malcolm, and their rescue dogs, Howie and Kennedy. Family, he says, is at the heart of his decision to run.
As the special election nears, Menefee is making his case that TX-18 deserves a representative who’s not only from the community but who has already proven he can deliver.
