Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley is getting the documentary treatment. Prime Video announced Wednesday that a feature-length film simply titled Saquon will premiere Thursday, Oct. 9, coinciding with the Eagles’ Week 6 Thursday Night Football matchup against the New York Giants, the very team Barkley left in free agency.
Directed by Alex Pappas and executive produced by Martin Scorsese, Saquon pulls back the curtain on the running back’s career and personal life with more than five years of never-before-seen footage.
The film tracks Barkley’s journey through defining chapters: his grueling recovery from ACL surgery, contentious contract negotiations with the Giants, his eventual signing with the Eagles, and the glory of winning a Super Bowl with Philadelphia.
Alongside the professional milestones, the documentary also highlights Barkley’s close-knit family and the role they’ve played in his resilience and success.
The timing of the release couldn’t be more fitting. In his first game back against New York last season, Barkley rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown in a decisive 28–3 Eagles win.
Now, as he gears up for another clash with his former team, fans will have a chance to watch the full story of his rise, struggles, and triumphs unfold on screen.
For Eagles fans, the film offers a chance to celebrate their new star. For Giants fans, it’s a raw look at what they lost. And for football fans everywhere, it’s a story about perseverance, loyalty, and the complicated realities of life in the NFL.
The documentary premieres Thursday, Oct. 9, exclusively on Prime Video.
