Surprise! Miguel is officially a dad and has been quietly embracing fatherhood for over a year.
The Grammy-winning singer revealed the news on Instagram on Tuesday (Sept. 9), sharing that his son Angelito just turned one. In a heartfelt post, the 39-year-old crooner celebrated the milestone with a short video clip of himself holding his son, whose face was pixelated for privacy.
“Our baby turned 1 today !!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELITO !!! We love you so much ! So proud and honored that you chose us to be your parents,” Miguel wrote. “Papá wrote you a song – hope it always reminds you of how loved you are.”
The singer linked the moment to his music, directing fans to his S1C platform, where they could hear angel’s song, a new track dedicated to his firstborn.
Miguel shared the Instagram post with Margaret Zhang, a Chinese-Australian filmmaker and the former editor-in-chief of Vogue China.
“I beg your pardon, when did this happen???” one fan commented, while another joked about the suddenness of the reveal: “Couldn’t be a slow roll out of baby feet 12 months ago? All I get is heartbreak over here.”
The singer has historically kept his personal life guarded, making the revelation all the more surprising.
The announcement comes as Miguel gears up for the release of his highly anticipated fifth studio album, Caos, dropping October 23, also his 40th birthday. He recently released New Martyrs (Ride 4 U) from the project, giving fans a taste of what’s to come.
Now, alongside the music, Miguel is stepping into a new role: fatherhood. And judging by his words to Angelito, it’s a role he’s embracing with just as much passion as his artistry.
