The 2025 NFL season is kicking off in true Philly fashion. The Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday that hometown legends Boyz II Men will perform the National Anthem at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday, Sept. 4, ahead of their primetime season opener against none other than the rival Dallas Cowboys.
For Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Wanyá Morris, the decision was a no-brainer. “There’s like an unspoken word that when it comes to the Eagles, the answer is ‘Yes,’” the group’s manager Joe Mulvihill told reporters.
This won’t be the first time Boyz II Men lends their voices to the Linc. The group last performed the anthem for the Eagles back in 2018, when the team unveiled their Super Bowl LII banner. Now, seven years later, the moment feels like déjà vu as Philadelphia prepares to raise its Super Bowl LIX banner.

Opening against the Cowboys adds another layer of intensity. For Eagles fans, few games carry as much weight as when the Birds take on Dallas. And with Boyz II Men delivering the anthem, the energy promises to be electric before the first whistle even blows.
While they’re officially booked to perform The Star-Spangled Banner, some fans online are already joking about wanting the R&B icons to serenade the Cowboys with classics like End of the Road or It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to the 90s.
