Netflix has released the official trailer for Ruth & Boaz, the modern-day retelling of one of the most iconic biblical romances. Produced by Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin, the film breathes new life into the timeless story of love, loyalty, and redemption, reimagined for today’s world.

Narrated by Phylicia Rashad, the trailer teases a heartfelt romance rooted in truth, trust, and, as Rashad reminds viewers, “sometimes with tragedy.” The film debuts on Netflix on September 26 and stars Serayah and Tyler Lepley as Ruth and Boaz.

For Perry, Ruth & Boaz marks the beginning of a new chapter in his creative journey.

“I’m thrilled to kick off my partnership with DeVon Franklin with Ruth & Boaz,” Perry said. “The trailer is finally here, and I couldn’t be more excited for the world to get this first look at such a powerful love story. I can’t wait for audiences everywhere to experience the film when it arrives.”

Franklin echoed that excitement, highlighting the personal significance of the project.

“Tyler and I have been great friends for over 15 years,” he shared. “So when he called me to team up on movies that can uplift the human spirit, I jumped at the chance and we couldn’t have a better partner than Netflix. Ruth & Boaz has been a true labor of love, and I’m grateful to finally share this first look with the world. This classic story has held such deep meaning for me and so many others for generations.”

The cast also includes Rashad, Babyface, Gregalan Williams, Nijah Brenea, Walnette Santiago, James Lee Thomas, Christopher Broughton, Jermaine Dupri, and Chaundre Hall-Broomfield.

Directed by Alanna Brown (Trees of Peace) and written by Michael Elliot (Brown Sugar) and Cory Tynan (Play’d), the film is part of Perry and Franklin’s multi-year first-look deal with Netflix to produce faith-driven, spirit-lifting stories.

Set in Tennessee, Ruth & Boaz follows a young woman who leaves behind the Atlanta music scene to care for an elderly widowed woman. In the process, she discovers unexpected love and the mother figure she never had. It’s a story about finding family in unexpected places—and about how love can bloom even in the most unlikely circumstances.
