If you’ve been waiting for a fresh, faith-filled story with heart, romance, and purpose, Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin have just delivered. The dynamic producing duo dropped the first clip from their upcoming Netflix film, Ruth & Boaz (R&B).

Set to premiere on Netflix on September 26, Ruth & Boaz is a modern-day retelling of one of the Bible’s most iconic love stories, but with a Southern twist. The film follows a young woman [Serayah McNeill] who leaves the fast life of the Atlanta music scene to care for a grieving widow in Tennessee. Along the way, she finds healing, unexpected family, and maybe even the love of her life [Tyler Lepley].

It’s the first project in a multi-picture creative partnership between Tyler Perry Studios and DeVon Franklin under their first-look deal with Netflix, aimed at producing uplifting, faith-based films.

“I’m so excited to be working with DeVon on this and future projects,” Perry shared. “In a world that feels more divided than ever, we’re focused on telling stories that uplift and bring people together — and Netflix is the perfect home for that.”

Franklin echoed the sentiment, saying, “Tyler and I have been great friends for over 15 years. When he called me to partner on movies that inspire and uplift, it was a no-brainer. Ruth & Boaz is just the beginning.”

Directed by Alanna Brown (Trees of Peace) and written by Michael Elliot (Brown Sugar) and Cory Tynan (Play’d), Ruth & Boaz brings together a powerhouse cast including Phylicia Rashad, Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea, James Lee Thomas, and Cameos by Babyface, Jermaine Dupri, Lecrae, and Yung Joc.

The newly released teaser clip offers a glimpse into the sweet, slow-burning romance at the heart of the film. Set against a Tennessee backdrop, there’s something grounded and soulful about the vibe, like The Notebook meets The Clark Sisters.

Mark your calendars: Sept. 26, Netflix.
