Taylor Rooks just broke a thousand hearts. The sports journalist and broadcaster said “I do” in a private, star-studded ceremony in New York City this week, and the internet is still catching its breath.

On Wednesday, Rooks dropped a series of stunning wedding photos on Instagram, captioned simply: “What a night. This is love.” But it wasn’t just the luxuriousness of the event that shook fans; it was the surprise.

Rooks, known for her thoughtful interviews and cool confidence courtside, has always kept her personal life lowkey. So when she posted photos in a wedding dress beside her now-husband without even tagging him, Twitter lost its mind.

Her new husband is Shane Fowler, a Harvard Law alum whose identity remained under wraps until recently. According to a GQ interview, the couple met while Fowler was in his final year at Harvard Law. He proposed with a custom scavenger hunt across NYC, ending at their favorite pizza spot, Fini.

The couple enforced a no-phone policy at the wedding. No leaked videos. No grainy Instagram Stories. Just vibes, love, and a carefully curated photo drop after the fact. “Our relationship belongs to us. Our love belongs to us, so it’s only right that the moment belonged to us,” Rooks told GQ.

The guest list looked like the NBA All-Star Weekend and a Met Gala had a baby. From Kevin Durant to Draymond Green, Saquon Barkley to Donovan Mitchell (with fiancée Coco Jones on his arm), the room was full of big names and Black excellence. Even rapper Jack Harlow popped up in a pic with Rooks.

Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin made an appearance, as did media personalities like Joy Taylor, who looked to be part of the bridal party.

As expected, Twitter did what Twitter does best: spiraled. “TAYLOR ROOKS GOT MARRIED??? ON A WEDNESDAY???” one user tweeted. Others posted memes of heartbreak, crying MJ faces, and “it should’ve been me” GIFs. The timeline was a mix of congratulations and collective mourning.

“I had one celebrity crush left and Taylor Rooks just took that too,” wrote another user.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!
