During IGN Live in Los Angeles, Marvel Studios dropped the first exclusive clip from Ironheart, the Disney+ series starring Dominique Thorne as the young tech genius we first met in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. And from the looks of it, this show is Black girl brilliance meets moral grey zones.

The clip introduces a scene between Riri and Anthony Ramos’ Parker Robbins, aka The Hood. Unlike your usual villain, Parker isn’t trying to dominate the world, he’s just here to drop unsettling truths and test Riri’s boundaries.

Riri, visibly frustrated, says, “I’m only doing this because I have to. Not because I’m a bad person.”

To which Parker hits her with a line that low-key sets the tone for the entire series:

“Anyone who’s ever accomplished anything iconic in life has had to do some questionable things to get it done.”

This exchange sets up Ironheart’s core tension: technology vs. magic, logic vs. temptation, and morality vs. ambition. Riri sees herself as an engineer on a mission, building something important.

But The Hood? He’s walking proof that once you put on the cape (or in his case, a hood), the lines get blurry real fast.

Set in Chicago after the events of Wakanda Forever, Ironheart finds Riri booted from MIT after resorting to stealing parts to build her suit.

As she hustles to perfect her armor, she finds herself toe-to-toe with The Hood, whose powers mix street smarts with mysticism.

The series is executive-produced by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. Ironheart premieres on Disney+ on June 24.
