Malcolm Kenyatta is officially back in his seat, and with overwhelming support.

On Saturday, Pennsylvania State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta was re-elected as Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee, securing 374.5 votes—99% of the voting members. The move comes after the DNC decided to hit the reset button on its previous vice chair election, which originally saw both Kenyatta and gun reform activist David Hogg elected.

This time around, Hogg stepped back from the race. Kenyatta ran solo, and the party responded loud and clear.

“Malcolm Kenyatta has been a strong and effective leader as DNC Vice Chair,” said Ken Martin, Chair of the Association of State Democratic Committees. “He has been committed to this work since day one, and I look forward to continuing this fight with him.”

The revote was triggered by internal friction after Hogg, best known for co-founding March for Our Lives following the Parkland school shooting, stirred controversy with talk of supporting primary challengers to some sitting Democrats.

That bold strategy didn’t sit well with many in the party’s leadership ranks, and the original election results were ultimately revoked by a vote of 294 to 99.

Despite the shakeup, Kenyatta’s support only grew stronger.

A proud son of North Philadelphia, Kenyatta has long been seen as one of the rising stars in the Democratic Party. Known for his bold advocacy on economic justice, voting rights, and LGBTQ+ equality, he brings both passion and policy to the table and has the grassroots credibility to match.

With this re-election, Kenyatta will continue being a key voice in shaping the party’s direction heading into 2026 and beyond.

The DNC will vote again on Tuesday to fill the second vacant vice chair seat, this time from a slate of three female candidates.
