Snoop Dogg is setting the record straight.
After recent backlash over his decision to perform at an event near Donald Trump’s inauguration, hosted by crypto figures with ties to Trump, Snoop is responding to critics who questioned his motives. And in true Uncle Snoop fashion, he’s breaking it down.
In a candid conversation with Ebro Darden on Apple Music’s Rap Life Radio, Snoop addressed the elephant in the room:
“I think the situation that needs to be explained is that, 30 minutes or 30 years, right?” he said. “So how long did I DJ for that night? 30 minutes. Yeah. Right.”
Snoop explained that the performance wasn’t about politics; it was about personal relationships and purpose. He shared that the event was organized by David Sacks, a big name in the crypto world and someone Snoop’s been doing business with for over 15 years.
Snoop’s got some words for everyone that came at him for his Trump inauguration set.

“So imagine that relationship—that I have with [him], and he gets the job at the White House… And he says, ‘Hey Snoop, I have an event. There are some very important people there that’s going to help with the initiatives that you want to do dealing with the community and the hood. We need you to show up. We got a bag for you and a bag for the community. We just need you for 30 minutes.’ Boom. I’m there.”
For Snoop, it wasn’t about endorsing Trump, it was about leveraging an opportunity to uplift his people.
Snoop also noted that he remained quiet when the criticism rolled in, which allowed the media to run wild with interpretations.
“But the perspective sometimes is always thrown out of context because the media, threw out their comment and I didn’t say nothing,” Snoop shared. “So a lot of times people went to defend me, and they went to fight for me…But what I say is, 30-minute DJ set versus 30 years of real work. Which one matters?”
Snoop wants people to look at the full picture. He’s spent decades advocating for his community, investing in youth football leagues, speaking out on social issues, and building economic empowerment platforms, all while navigating the complexity of being a global icon.
