After leading the Philadelphia Eagles to Super Bowl glory in February, Jalen Hurts could’ve easily kicked back, flashed his ring, and soaked up the spotlight. But instead, the 26-year-old MVP-level quarterback used the offseason to level up, and he went straight to one of the GOATs to do it.
Hurts revealed that he reached out to none other than Michael Jordan for advice after capturing his first Super Bowl title.
“As competitive as he is, it would be unwise of me not to seek knowledge from him and lean on someone like that,” Hurts told reporters on Tuesday. “It’s something that I value a lot.”
It’s a move that speaks volumes about Hurts’ mindset. He’s not just chasing greatness, he’s studying it, dissecting it, and figuring out how to sustain it.
And if you’re going to learn from someone, who better than MJ, a six-time champion and the blueprint for winning across eras?

Hurts said the biggest lesson he took from their conversations was about staying grounded, even with the weight of big dreams and even bigger expectations.
“The biggest thing is just taking it a day at a time,” he said. “We have these goals and we have these big dreams of what you want to accomplish, but ultimately, it’s a journey.”
That word—journey—kept coming up for Hurts. He spoke like someone who understands that success isn’t just about the destination, but the process: the discipline, the refining, the mental reset it takes to stay at the top.
“Being able to decode, detect and correct, and pretty much refine the things I need to so I can be at my best when needed,” he added.
It’s clear that Hurts hasn’t let the Super Bowl win get to his head. If anything, it’s sharpened his focus. And that’s impressive, considering he’s had one of the busiest offseasons of anyone in the league.
Between being named to TIME’s 100 Most Influential People list, showing up at the Met Gala looking like a walking campaign ad for luxury menswear, and marrying his longtime partner Bryonna “Bry” Burrows, Hurts has managed to balance superstardom with staying true to his routine.
If there’s one thing Jalen Hurts has proven, it’s that he’s not satisfied with just winning.
He wants to keep evolving, keep competing, and keep pushing the standard. And when the student seeks out a master like Michael Jordan, you know the mission is bigger than football—it’s about legacy.
