Shannon Sharpe sat down with another legend, this time, the “Bad Boy of R&B,” Bobby Brown. On the Club Shay Shay podcast, Brown says that Chris Brown is the closest artist to Michael Jackson in terms of talent, performance, and entertainment.
The legendary singer, who revolutionized R&B with his own unique style, gave his opinion on the contemporary artists who have followed in the footsteps of the King of Pop.
When asked who he felt was the closest to Michael Jackson, Brown says, “I would go with Chris Brown.” Brown elaborated, praising Chris for his incredible skills as a singer, dancer, and all-around entertainer. “Chris Brown is a dancer, singer, slash great entertainer. He goes out there and he does the ultimate stuff on stage. And you just have to love it,” Bobby said.
While acknowledging that Usher is also an exceptional performer, Bobby gave Chris Brown the edge, stating, “I got to go with Chris on being as close to Michael as anybody could ever get.”
Bobby also reflected on his relationship with Usher, who has often said Bobby was a major influence on his career.

“Usher said he looked up to you because you kind of related to him in the industry more than anyone else,” Shay Shay asked. Bobby responded with gratitude, admitting, “It makes me feel great because he’s a great entertainer.”
Brown has known Usher since he was a young teenager, thanks to a connection made by one of Bobby’s security guards, who introduced the artist to him. Bobby fondly recalled how Usher was “always around” and learned the ropes of the industry by observing Bobby’s career firsthand.
“I had a studio in Atlanta, Georgia. He just was always around. He brought him to be around me and to learn what this thing of ours is all about,” Bobby shared.
