Kenan Thompson to Receive Star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame


Comedian-actor Kenan Thompson is amongst the class of this year’s esteemed entertainers who will be receiving stars on The Hollywood Walk of Fame. He will receive his star at a ceremony on August 11. Thompson joins a list of honorees which, include Holly Robinson Peete, Michael Strahan and Regina King.



Last year, Kenan expressed his gratitude for his nomination to receive the honor by posting on Instagram, “Woke up this morning to incredible news!! I’m getting a ⭐️on The Hollywood Walk of Fame!!!! Shout to the entire class of 2022!!!!”



Thompson’s career spans nearly 30 years, beginning with his television debut as a cast member of the Nickelodeon teen sketch comedy series All That in 1994. Following All That, Thompson starred in another sitcom series with All That co-star Kel Mitchell in Kenan & Kel, which aired on Nickelodeon for four years. Kenan also starred in the 1997 Nickelodeon film Good Burger as well as the second and third movies of The Mighty Ducks film franchise and in 2004 had the leading role in the film, Fat Albert.


For nearly two decades, Thompson has also been a cast member of Saturday Night Live, having joined the cast in 2003. As a cast member of Saturday Night Live, he has been nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards, winning one in 2018 for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics with fellow cast member Chris Redd for the song and sketch entitled, Come Back, Barack.


He has also been previously nominated twice for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on the series. Thompson is the longest-running cast member in the series' 46-year history.


While working as a cast member of Saturday Night Live, Thompson landed his own NBC sitcom titled Kenan in 2020. The series premiered in February 2021 and was renewed for a second two months after its premiere.
