Jussie Smollett, Mona Scott-Young and More Honored at 2022 VCF Black Tie Gala

This past weekend, The Vision Community Foundation held its annual Black Tie Gala in Atlanta at The Whitley Luxury Collection Hotel Buckhead.

The “Avant Garde Couture” themed gala honored pillars of the community and the industry who have blazed a trail to create platforms and bodies of work centered around representation, inclusion and truth in the arts, media, ministry, community service, and government.

Co-hosted by Bishop O.C. Allen lll, Jack Mizrahi, Bevy Smith and Rashad Burgess, the celebration included powerful performances from vocal powerhouses Keke Wyatt and Avery Wilson.

Honorees included George M. Johnson (Award Winning Black Non-Binary Writer) who won the 2022 Architect of Literary Artistry Excellence Award, Darnell Moore (vice president of inclusion strategy at Netflix) who won the 2022 Elder Statesmen of Black Queer Liberation & Representation Excellence Award, Claire Summers (founder and editor-in-chic for Fashion Bomb Daily) who won the 2022 Architect of Fashion and Influential Serial Entrepreneur Millennial Excellence Award, Dr. Carl Highshaw (founder and CEO of AMAAD Institute) who won the 2022 The Global Visionary Ambassador of Excellence Award, Catherine Brewton (vice president of creative for BMI) who won the 2022 Global Fashion Ambassador of Business Excellence Award, Jussie Smollett (director, actor, singer) who won the 2022 Global Producer & Film Executive of the Year Excellence Award, Mona Scott-Young (founder Monami Productions, creator of “Love & Hip Hop”) won the 2022 Humanitarian Award, Minister Ashton Reynolds (president of Equal, LGBTQ+) won the 2022 LGBTQ+ Ambassador of Equality & Justice Excellence Award and The Quintessential Gentleman's very own Eric K. Thomas (founder and editor-in-chief) was honored with the 2022 Architect of Millennial Communication & Ingenuity Excellence Award.

"Black men you are beautiful, you are loved and you deserve everything they told you you couldn't have," Eric shared in his acceptance speech.
