Barack Obama, Chadwick Boseman and More Land Emmy Nominations



This year’s nominations for the 74th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced yesterday, in which former US President Barack Obama, late actor Chadwick Boseman, Tyler James Williams, Trevor Noah, Stan Lathan, W, Kamau Bell, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Donald Glover were on this year’s list.



Obama received a nomination in the Outstanding Narration category for narrating the documentary Our Great National Parks. Boseman was nominated posthumously in the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance category for his work voicing T’Challa aka Black Panther in the animated series Disney + series What If…? Tyler James Williams received his first ever nomination for Supporting Actor In A Comedy for his role in Abbott Elementary.


Donald Glover was nominated for Lead Actor In A Comedy for Atlanta and Trevor Noah was nominated for Outstanding Variety Talk Series for his talk show The Daily Show With Trevor Noah. Stan Lathan was nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for his work on Dave Chappelle’s The Closer. W. Kamau Bell received two nominations for Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program and Outstanding Narrator for his docuseries We Need to Talk About Cosby. Kareem Abdul Jabbar was nominated for Outstanding Narrator for Black Patriots: Heroes Of The Civil War, in which he will compete in the category against Obama.


Boseman, James and Obama are all first-time nominees this year. Noah is a 13-time Emmy nominee, which he won once in the Outstanding Short Form Variety Series category. Glover has been nominated 10 times winning two Emmys for Outstanding Director For a Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Bell is a 9-time nominee having won 3 Emmys previously winning Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program while Jabbar is a two-time nominee and Lathan has won three Emmys from his six nominations which he won Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special and Outstanding Variety Special.


The 74th Annual Primetime Emmys will air on September 12th.
