OWN's David Makes Man made its Season 2 premiere on June 22, with a screening in Los Angeles that ended the show's "Coast to Coast COVID-safe" screening that started on June 17.

The screenings were hosted by Oscar Award-Winning writer, creator Tarell Alvin McCraney and David Makes Man showrunner Dee Harris-Lawrence, with the first taking place in Miami on June 17, at the 1 Hotel Miami Beach as a dinner. The second was a brunch in New York City on Saturday, June 19, followed by the World Premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in Hudson Plaza.

The final screening was a dinner at the Grass Room in Downtown Los Angeles that included Emmy and Tony-nominated actor Jeremy Pope (FX’s Pose and Netflix’s Hollywood), Nic Ashe of Queen Sugar, and David Makes Man actors Kwame Patterson, Akili McDowell, Alana Arenas, Arlen Escarpeta and Cayden Williams.

Additional guests included Kalen Allen, Trell Thomas, Jarrett Hill, Michael Arceaneaux, Glen Davis, DJ Brian Henry and Danielle Young.

The dinner consisted of not just a screening of the first episode of the second season but also a lively discussion that covered experiences with people similar to the character David, Black women as the catalyst for change and art depicting trauma without exploiting it.
