Ne-Yo Celebrates 15 Years of His Debut Album "In My Own Words" With a Digital Deluxe Reissue

Ok, let’s take it back to the 2000s for a minute. Do you all remember being in your rooms singing your hearts out as teens? You listened to Jagged Edge, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Mario, T.I., Bow Wow, Ciara and so many more. It's as if music was life for us during those years. For one artist during that time, his soothing and beautifully melodic voice helped him win over the industry. I am referencing none other than R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo.

Ne-Yo’s style of music challenged the 2000s to hear and take in the real meaning of R&B. Stepping into the music industry as a songwriter, Ne-Yo knew how to capture the listeners with his creative penmanship and deep melodies. It was no shock when Ne-Yo became a singer in the industry as well. Ne-Yo has sold millions of records worldwide and has topped several Billboard charts over his career span.

Today, Ne-Yo celebrates 15 years of his debut album In My Own Words with a 15th Anniversary Digital Deluxe Reissue. Back in 2006, this was a hit album for Ne-Yo. This release earned Ne-Yo a Grammy Award nomination in the Best Contemporary R&B Album category. It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and sold over 301,000 copies sold. Successfully, it reached the top ten of the Canadian Albums Chart and sold 1.5 million copies in the United States. This album also went platinum in Australia, Japan, and the United Kingdom. The four released singles from this album included Stay, When You're Mad, Sexy Love, and So Sick.

Via Instagram under his post about the anniversary release, Ne-Yo stated “I am happy that after 15 years, somebody still gives a damn about a Ne-Yo song. I look back on it and I prefer to just let the blessings come. That’s how God wants you to live your life. If He gives you a blessing, don’t bask in it too long. Say thank you and keep it pushing”.

The new release will include six bonus tracks. Two of the bonus tracks are acoustic versions of “So Sick”, and “Sexy Love”, and you guys know I can’t wait to hear those. My personal favorite from the 2006 album is “Mirror”. Much success comes with a great reward, and I am excited to share this great news with our readers. Ne-Yo is an icon of the 2000s and he continues to build his empire with each and every song he creates.
