Facebook Will Launch Video Platform Next Month to Rival TikTok

Next month Facebook is slated to launch its own rendition of TikTok. The renowned social media platform has announced plans to release Instagram Reels, an app that allows users to create brief interactive video clips with musical accompaniment.

The Reels app will offer multiple video editing tools, and with connection to Instagram, users can share the completed content to their stories. Users with public accounts will have the option of displaying videos on the app's Explore section. Edited Reels can also be posted on their profiles.

The Reels app is undergoing trial runs in France, Germany, Brazil, and India but will be available for smartphones in the U.S. in early August, as stated by Facebook.
