Sinqua Walls is headed to the DC Universe. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Monday that Walls has joined the cast of Man of Tomorrow, James Gunn’s Superman sequel, currently filming in Atlanta.
His character details are being kept, as THR put it, “in a lead-lined safe.” DC Studios declined to comment. The mystery is very much intentional.
David Corenswet returns as Superman, with Nicholas Hoult back as Lex Luthor. The central conflict of the film pits the two of them against Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger. “At its core, it’s about Clark and Lex,” Gunn said in a recent interview. “I relate to both of them. I relate to Lex’s ambition and obsession, minus the murder. And I relate to Superman’s belief in people, his Midwestern values. They’re two sides of me.”
Rachel Brosnahan returns as Lois Lane. Skyler Gisondo is back as Jimmy Olsen. Sara Sampaio returns as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.
The new additions also include Aaron Pierre, who plays John Stewart in Lanterns, bringing the Green Lantern into the Superman universe. Adria Arjona joins as Maxima. Matthew Lillard, who was cast just days ago, is in an undisclosed role. Andre Royo is also aboard. And now Walls.
Walls is one of the most consistently working actors in Hollywood right now, a man who has quietly built a resume that spans multiple genres and some of the biggest projects of the last several years. He starred in Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist on Peacock, where he held his own alongside Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson, Taraji P. Henson, and Don Cheadle. He led the Hulu remake of White Men Can’t Jump opposite Jack Harlow, appeared in Netflix’s Carry-On as the best friend to Taron Egerton’s TSA agent, and starred in the horror comedy The Blackening. He got his start on Friday Night Lights and has never really slowed down since.
Man of Tomorrow is the fourth film in the DC Universe and follows Superman, which opened to $125 million domestically last year and became the first DC film to cross $300 million at the domestic box office. It also follows Supergirl, due June 26, and Clayface later this year.
Production is underway in Atlanta and, by Gunn’s own account, going “beautifully and unstintingly.”
Man of Tomorrow opens in theaters July 9, 2027.
