The dinosaurs are back, and this time, they’re more dangerous than ever.
Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Jurassic World: Rebirth, the seventh installment in the Jurassic Park franchise.
Featuring an all-star cast led by Mahershala Ali and Scarlett Johansson, the film offers a fresh take on the prehistoric saga.
Set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the world has begun to reject its new reptilian inhabitants. The planet’s ecosystem has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs, forcing them into isolated equatorial zones that mimic their prehistoric environments. However, within these untamed landscapes, three colossal creatures hold the key to a revolutionary drug with miraculous life-saving potential.
Ali steps into the Jurassic universe as Duncan Kincaid, a no-nonsense team leader tasked with navigating the perils of a dinosaur-infested island. Kincaid works alongside Zora Bennett (played by Johansson), a covert operations specialist leading a dangerous mission to extract valuable genetic material from the three most massive dinosaurs still in existence.
As their mission unfolds, Zora and Duncan’s team cross paths with a shipwrecked civilian family, whose voyage was destroyed by the terrifying aquatic creatures lurking beneath the waves. Together, they find themselves stranded on an island, only to uncover a shocking and sinister discovery hidden from the world for decades.
Joining Johansson and Ali in this thriller are Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, Rupert Friend as Big Pharma representative Martin Krebs, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Reuben Delgado, the father of the stranded family. The supporting cast also includes Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein.
Directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Godzilla), and produced by Jurassic Park legend Steven Spielberg, Rebirth is penned by David Koepp, the original screenwriter behind Jurassic Park (1993).
