A rom-com featuring a member of Destiny’s Child and a member of Wu-Tang Clan? Consider us intrigued. Romance, comedy, and real-life relationship gems are coming to Prime Video with the new film Relationship Goals, starring Kelly Rowland and Cliff “Method Man” Smith.
Rowland, who just celebrated her 44th birthday yesterday, is fresh off her #1 Netflix hit, Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa.
Amazon MGM Studios announced that the two superstars will lead the romantic comedy, directed by Linda Mendoza and produced by DeVon Franklin, who is known for creating uplifting and inspirational films such as Breakthrough and Miracles From Heaven.
The film is inspired by Pastor Michael Todd’s New York Times bestseller, Relationship Goals: How to Win at Dating, Marriage, and Sex, which made waves as both a viral sermon series and a best-selling book.
The movie will be a funny and inspiring look at the highs and lows of relationships, focusing on how to build a lasting connection—whether in dating, marriage, or beyond. The book it’s based on spent 13 consecutive weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list and debuted at No. 1 on Amazon.
The script was written by Laura Lekkos, with previous drafts penned by Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan. Elliot and Tynan also wrote the upcoming R & B, a modern adaptation of the Biblical love story of Ruth & Boaz, which Franklin produced for Tyler Perry Studios and Netflix.
While the exact plot details remain under wraps, with Rowland and Method Man in the lead, fans can expect on-screen chemistry, heartfelt moments, and plenty of laughs.
Alongside Rowland and Method Man, the cast includes Robin Thede and Annie Gonzalez.
