Fans of the mystery thriller A Simple Favor are in for another ride as Amazon MGM Studios prepares to release Another Simple Favor, the highly-anticipated sequel starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively.
The film, which is set to premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on March 7 before debuting globally on Prime Video on May 1, also stars Bashir Salahuddin and Alex Newell.
Directed by Paul Feig, Another Simple Favor transports audiences to the picturesque island of Capri, Italy, where the ever-mysterious Emily Nelson (Lively) is set to marry a wealthy Italian businessman. But, true to the franchise’s DNA, the glamorous wedding is anything but smooth sailing, as murder and betrayal loom over the opulent celebration. Anna Kendrick reprises her role as Stephanie Smothers, the widowed mommy vlogger who was drawn into Emily’s dark world in the first film.
Newell is a Broadway sensation and Glee alum while Salahuddin is best known for his work on South Side and Top Gun: Maverick.
Feig, who is returning to the director’s chair for his first-ever sequel, expressed his excitement about revisiting these characters, saying, “I’ve avoided making sequels to any of my films, but these characters were just too much fun not to revisit.”
