Last night, the Los Angeles Lakers narrowly defeated the Golden State Warriors for a Christmas Day Showdown.

While fans enjoyed another clash between two titans, Steph Curry and LeBron James, both stars have begun to reflect on the inevitability of the final chapters of their storied careers.

James, days away from turning 40, has hinted that his time in the league may soon come to an end. Meanwhile, Steph Curry, at 36, revealed in an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews that retirement has been on his mind more frequently.

“More than I probably have before,” Curry admitted when asked how often he thinks about stepping away from the game. “It’s okay to accept and acknowledge that the end is near. But only because it allows you to enjoy what’s happening right now. I think the more you talk about it and the more you acknowledge it, the more it levels up the sense of urgency in the moment now.”

Curry, widely regarded as the greatest shooter in NBA history, continues to perform at an elite level helping the Warriors sit at 15-14.

Still, Curry’s acknowledgment of the “R-word” serves as a reminder to fans to cherish every moment of his brilliance on the court. There will come a time when he’s no longer dribbling down the court.
