President Biden is making unexpected moves on his way out of office.
President Joe Biden has granted clemency to Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, co-founder of the infamous Black Mafia Family (BMF), who was serving a lengthy prison sentence for drug trafficking and money laundering.
The decision comes as part of the Biden administration’s broader effort to review sentencing disparities and offer second chances to nonviolent offenders.
Flenory, who co-founded BMF alongside his brother Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, was convicted in 2008 on charges of running a nationwide drug trafficking operation. He and his brother oversaw a multi-million-dollar drug empire that stretched from Detroit to Atlanta.

Terry Flenory had been serving a 30-year sentence but was granted early release in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic due to health concerns. However, the clemency from President Biden effectively removes his remaining legal restrictions and will end his judicial penalties.
Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory was also granted a sentence reduction and, in October, was released from federal prison and transferred to a halfway house in Miami.
