Washington Commanders’ safety Jeremy Reaves celebrated a career win with a life-changing moment on Sunday night.

After helping his team secure a 30-24 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, securing their spot in the NFL playoffs, Reaves proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Mikaela Worley, in a post-game moment.

Reaves, 28, proposed at Northwest Stadium, where fans and teammates witnessed the touching scene. Video shared across social media shows Reaves dropping to one knee as emotional Worley, says yes. The couple shared an embrace before Reaves slipped the ring on her finger.

“I hate losing, so there’s no way I could have done that in the right spirit after a loss,” Reaves told The Associated Press. “That thing was burning a hole in my pocket.”

Reaves had been planning the moment for weeks and gave Worley’s family advance notice but says his decision to propose depended on whether the Commanders won or not.

“If we win this game, it’s destiny,” he told her family ahead of time.

“She’s earned it. I can’t say enough about her,” Reaves said in a post-game interview. “When I was at my lowest last year, she was there to pick me up every day. She showed up. That’s my best friend.”
