Lewis Hamilton has officially closed a monumental chapter in his career, bidding an emotional farewell to the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, where he has spent over a decade.
The seven-time world champion, who has won six of those titles with Mercedes, is set to begin a new chapter with Ferrari in the 2025 Formula One season.
Ahead of his move, Hamilton visited Mercedes’ facilities in Stuttgart, Brackley, and Brixworth to personally thank the team members who contributed to his success.
“You know, Mercedes has changed my life,” Hamilton shared. “Growing up in Stevenage, dreaming of one day being in Formula 1 and being a World Champion. And definitely back then, it was me and my two parents. I didn’t know that there would be a huge amount of people that I get to work with, who would be the ones to lift me up and take me on that journey to winning something like that.”
His last season was filled with speculation, ending in a strong performance at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where he finished fourth. Despite a challenging year for Mercedes, Hamilton solidified his legacy as one of the greatest drivers in Formula One history.
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has been one of the most interesting storylines of the 2024 season. Fans are eagerly anticipating how the British driver will adapt to the iconic red car and whether he will add to his already record-breaking career achievements.
