Anthony Mackie Dons the Shield in Marvel’s ‘Captain America: Brave New World’

Marvel has done it. And this time with another Black man.

Captain America

Marvel has just released the trailer of Captain America: Brave New World, which stars Anthony Mackie

This is the fourth iteration of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And Mackie, of course, will star as Sam Wilson, who has made the change to the Captain America character as opposed to his longtime role of Falcon, who he was since Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The movie itself is a grounded political thriller that hearkens back to Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Harrison Ford will make his debut as the Red Hulk, which the trailer showcases at the very end of it. He is also General Ross for most of the film; Ross was played by the late William Hurt, who passed away from prostate cancer in 2022.

It will be the great Sam Wilson who will work to uncover a global plot.

As aforementioned, Wilson made his debut in Captain America: The Winter Soldier before going on to reprise the role in all the Avengers films, Civil War and Captain America and The Winter Soldier, a series on Disney +. This series chronicled his journey as Captain America, a title that Steve Rogers gave his blessing to in Avengers Endgame.

The movie, which will be released in February of 2025, will be directed by Julius Onah, with the script from Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. Moon Knight scribe Matthew Orton is also working on the script.

Additionally, MCU newcomer Shira Haas is also in the movie, while Danny Ramirez reprises his role as Joaquin Torres, who in the comics becomes the Falcon and Livingston Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson, who were last seen in 2008’s Incredible Hulk, will return as well.

The trailer is just ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine, which will debut on the big screen on July 26.

Other upcoming MCU movies slated to hit the theaters are Fantastic 4 (2025), Blade (2025), Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (2026), Avengers: The Secret Wars (2027), Shang Chi 2, Spider-Man 4 and The X-men, amongst other MCU features.
